About Us
The Greater Memphis area has more than 45,000 young adults, aged 16-24, who are out of school and out of work. Nearly half of these young adults are in poverty, and only 1% will be on the path to a living wage by the time they are 28.
The young adult population represents the next generation of community, business, and political leaders. It is imperative that they are equipped with the skills and support that they need today in order to guide Memphis forward tomorrow. The Collective Blueprint advances a community framework that reflects the personal and economic aspirations of the city’s young populace.
The Collective Blueprint was started in 2016 and is the only local organization that is specifically tailored to the needs of young adults. We provide relationships, resources, and a network of support to help young adults discover and develop their unique talents in order to advance their personal and professional objectives. Our Vision is that all young adults have the power to live their best lives and the tools to make that a reality.
The Collective Blueprint Model
The Collective Blueprint is building the framework to reach economic equity for all young adults in the following ways:
1) Initiatives: Build coalitions that create systemic solutions to ensure more young adults complete education and continue on to careers
2) Programs: Be the go-to organization for how to support and partner with opportunity youth as they begin their careers
3) Advocacy: Build a movement toward a more economically just Memphis by positioning young adults as leaders and advocates
Overview of Collective Blueprint’s Business Development Team
The mission of The Collective Blueprint is to increase socio-economic mobility for young adults by building pathways to thriving careers. To that end, the Business Development team at The Collective Blueprint (TCB) works to directly create, manage and grow the various career pathways offered to young adults. This specifically means sourcing, retaining, and developing current and prospective employer partnerships within the city of Memphis.
The Business Development team at The Collective Blueprint provides these services in the following ways:
1. Employer Acquisition: Our team identifies potential employer partners aligned with the organization’s mission and goals through market research, networking, and outreach.We also develop and deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and value propositions to engage prospective employers, and meet in 1x1 or group settings with potential partners to establish a relationship.
2. Employer Retention: Our team serves as the primary point of contact for existing employer partners, ensuring their needs are met and maintaining strong, trust-based relationships.We also develop and implement engagement strategies to enhance employer satisfaction and loyalty and proactively address issues, gather feedback,
3. Employer Development: Our team works closely with employer partners to understand their workforce needs and create tailored solutions that maximize their involvement. This work includes offsite office visits, facilitating various events, networking, and attending events to deepen employer engagement.
4. Cross Team Collaboration: Our team partners’ with other internal teams (e.g., Programs, Admin, etc.) to align employer needs and feedback with recruitment, training, and development of our young adult leaders.
5. Reporting & Analysis: Our team maintains detailed records of employer interactions, agreements, and outcomes in CRM systems.We also regularly report on acquisition, retention, and development metrics, providing data-driven insights to leadership. Lastly, on a day to day basis our team builds out and maintains various tools in excel and google sheets to deliver on short to midterm needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Business Development Associate will play a pivotal role in driving growth by identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with prospective clients, and supporting the business development team in executing strategic initiatives. This position is ideal for a proactive, self-motivated individual with strong communication and analytical skills who thrives in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. An ideal candidate will have no issue having a largely administrative / analytical role initially that overtime will be more relational.

- Proposal Development: Assist in preparing proposals, presentations, and other business development materials.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our programs and product teams to align business development efforts with overall organization goals.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on key performance metrics related to business development activities and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Event Participation: Represent the company at networking, community, and other local events to promote the brand and generate leads.
- Administrative Support: Maintain records of interactions in CRM systems and provide administrative support to the business development team as needed.
The successful candidate should meet the following qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
- Experience: 1-3 years of professional experience, preferably in business development, administration, education, or some related field.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent research and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Sheets & Google Slides
- Note: Added bonus if have experience with various CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot), though unnecessary
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
